Guidelines for contributors.

We consider submissions of articles, case comments, essays, and shorter pieces. Work need not concern American law, studies, or events exclusively.

Articles should be between 1,000–5,000 words. Please contact our team if you'd like different parameters.

All citations should conform to the most recent edition of The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation. Footnotes, not endnotes, are required. Authors writing in psychology should provide a parenthetical Bluebook citation in addition to the customary APA reference; the editors will assist with reconciliation during the editing process.

Submissions are reviewed under a double-blind protocol by at least two outside readers. Initial decisions—accept, revise and resubmit, or decline—are returned within eight weeks. Authors who require expedited review on the basis of an outstanding offer should so indicate in the cover letter.

Manuscripts should be submitted as Word documents, double-spaced, in a standard serif typeface. The author's name and affiliation should appear only in the cover letter; the manuscript itself should be prepared for blind review.
